The Salem Academy Charter School has more than one reason to celebrate; in addition to their 2012 graduation, the school was ranked number 499 on Newsweek's list of the country's 1,000 best public high schools. Schools on the list were "the ones that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads," according to the publication.

As reported in last month's issue, Sturgis Charter Public School in Hyannis (ranked 46) and Malden's Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (ranked 122) also made the list.
